Student Workbook 2: Initial Sounds provides a series of carefully structured activities designed to develop awareness of initial sounds and final phonemes. Initial activities focus on development of awareness of onset. This is followed by activities that focus on initial phonemes and then final phonemes. When students have completed the workbook they will be ready to learn to decode text. This workbook should be completed after students have worked through GOLD Phonological Awareness Workbook 1: Rhyme and GOLD Phonological Awareness Activity Cards: Onset.
